DIRECTIONS AND CARE

We advise seeking assistance from a professional for optimal results.

Client Consultation

  • Assessment: Evaluate the client's hair type, scalp condition, and preferences.
  • Selection: Discuss the desired look and choose the right toupee or wig, considering color, texture, and size.
  • Skin Test: Before using any adhesives, conduct a patch test on a small area of the client's skin to check for potential allergic reactions.

Scalp Preparation

Cleansing
The skin in the area where the hair unit will be applied is thoroughly cleansed to remove oils, perspiration, and any product residue. This step helps promote proper adhesion and reduces the risk of irritation.

Drying
The skin must be completely dry prior to application.

Hair Reduction

Any hair located within the attachment area (which may include the hairline, forehead, or scalp skin) is trimmed or removed as needed to create a smooth, even surface for secure attachment of the hair unit.

Skin Protection
A thin, even layer of DKEIGHT™ Prep Skin Protector is applied directly to the prepared skin where adhesive will be used. This product creates a protective barrier between the skin and the adhesive, supports adhesion performance, and helps reduce skin sensitivity. The Prep Skin Protector is allowed to dry fully before any adhesive is applied.

Fitting and Trimming

  • Fit Check: Place the toupee on the client's head to ensure proper fit. Adjust positioning to align with the client’s natural hairline and contours of the scalp.
  • Custom Trimming: If necessary, trim the base of the unit for a custom fit. This ensures that the toupee blends seamlessly with the client’s existing hair and scalp, providing a natural and comfortable fit.

Adhesive Application for Hair Units

  • Preparation: Apply DKEIGHT™ Prep Skin Protector to the skin where the unit will be attached to protect and prepare the area for adhesive application.

  • Adhesive Application:
    • Skin Base: Apply three thin layers of DKEIGHT™ Hair Replacement Adhesive directly to the skin where the unit is intended to bond. Allow each layer to become clear and tacky before applying the next to ensure a secure and durable bond.
    • Lace Base: Apply at least three thin layers of DKEIGHT™ Hair Replacement Adhesive to the client’s skin, under the lace area. Wait for the adhesive to become clear and tacky before positioning the lace for a stronger hold.

Hair Unit Application

  • Positioning and Securing: Carefully place the hair unit starting from the front, aligning with the natural hairline, and work towards the back. Press down gently to secure the bond, making sure there are no air pockets and that the edges are firmly attached.

Styling

  • Customization: Once the hair unit is securely in place, style it as desired to blend or look like client's natural hair.

Aftercare Tips

  • Maintenance: Wait at least 24 hours before the hair unit gets wet. Regularly check the adhesive and reapply or adjust as necessary using the DKEIGHT™ Hair Adhesive Pen. Be gentle during the application to avoid damaging the hair unit.

Removal and Cleaning

  • DKEIGHT™ Hair System Adhesive Remover:
    • Application: Apply the remover along the edges of the hair unit.
    • Removal: Gently lift the edges after a few minutes to ease the unit off the skin
  • DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Residue Remover Shampoo:
    • Washing: Soak the hair unit in lukewarm water mixed with the shampoo. Gently agitate to dislodge residue and rinse thoroughly.
    • Drying: Pat dry with a soft towel and allow to air dry on a wig stand.

Identify the Bonded Areas

  • Locate where adhesive is present:

    • Front hairline

    • Perimeter

    • Interior (for full bond installations)

This determines where remover must be applied.

Apply Adhesive Remover (Bond Release)

  • Apply DKEIGHT™ Hair System Adhesive Remover directly to the skin–adhesive contact points, starting at the front hairline.

  • For perimeter bonds: apply along the entire perimeter.

  • For full bonds: apply along the perimeter first, then work inward as needed.

Why:
Adhesive bonds must be released in a controlled sequence to prevent skin stress and base damage.

Allow Bond Breakdown

  • The remover begins breaking down the adhesive within seconds.

  • Do not rush or pull.

Why:
Pulling before the bond is released can:

  • Tear lace or skin bases

  • Irritate skin

  • Stretch or distort the unit

Remove the Hair Unit (Direction Matters)

  • Always remove the hair unit front to back-perimeter edge to interior

  • Gently lift the front hairline once the bond softens.

  • Continue lifting backward as the adhesive dissolves.

Why front to back:

  • Preserves the hairline

  • Prevents base distortion

  • Allows controlled release as adhesive breaks down

 Fully Separate Unit from Skin

  • Continue applying remover only where resistance remains.

  • Stop once the unit is fully detached.

At this point:

  • The bond is broken

  • Adhesive residue will still be present on skin and/or unit

➡️ Do not attempt residue removal with adhesive remover. Although the DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Remover breaks down the adhesive, our DKEIGHT™

Adhesive Residue Remover will remove all left over gunk and stickiness with ease.

Cleaning DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Applicators

Proper tool cleaning preserves applicator performance, prevents adhesive buildup, and ensures hygienic reuse.

DKEIGHT™Silicone Angle Applicator

  1. Immediate Wipe-Down

    • Wipe off remaining adhesive immediately after use with a disposable towel.

  2. Soak (If Adhesive Remains)

    • Submerge the applicator in DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Residue Remover Shampoo.

    • Allow it to soak until adhesive residue begins to loosen.

  3. Rinse & Dry

    • Rinse thoroughly under warm water.

    • Air dry completely before next use.

Why:
The silicone surface does not absorb adhesive, but residue left to cure will harden and affect precision. Soaking in the shampoo breaks down what the adhesive leaves behind without damaging the tool.

DKEIGHT™ Ultra-Thin Wide Area Applicators

  1. Initial Cleanup

    • Wipe off excess adhesive immediately after use.

  2. Soak for Residue Removal

    • Place the applicator in DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Residue Remover Shampoo.

    • Allow to soak until remaining adhesive residue softens.

  3. Release Adhesive from Bristles

    • Gently comb through the bristles to free loosened adhesive.

  4. Rinse & Dry

    • Rinse thoroughly under warm water.

    • Air dry fully with bristles laying flat or hanging downward.

Why:
Thin, wide applicators require flexible bristles to apply even layers. Soaking prevents adhesive from curing inside the brush and compromising application control.

DKEIGHT™ Application / Cleanup Brush

  1. Remove Surface Residue

    • Wipe adhesive residue from synthetic fibers immediately after use.

  2. Soak If Adhesive Is Present

    • Submerge the brush in DKEIGHT™ Adhesive Residue Remover Shampoo when adhesive buildup remains.

    • Allow sufficient soaking time for residue to break down.

  3. Comb & Release

    • Gently comb through bristles to remove loosened adhesive.

  4. Rinse & Dry

    • Rinse thoroughly under warm water.

    • Air dry completely before storage or reuse.

Why:
This brush is designed for both application and cleanup. Shampoo soaking removes adhesive residue safely without damaging synthetic fibers or altering brush shape.
